The current scheme will expire on 12 October 2010 and all deposits made before that date will be guaranteed by the Government up to that date, subject to the limitations of the guarantee.

WBS has also been granted the Deposit Guarantee extension, which runs from 12 October 2010 until 31 December 2011. This extension will now come at a cost to WBS.

WBS may now offer both Guaranteed and Excluded investments. From 12 October 2010 all investments will be Excluded unless the investor elects the guarantee for their investment at their cost. Guaranteed investments will have their interest rate reduced by 0.50% from those rates offered here and elsewhere by WBS. This reflects the cost to WBS of the extension.
